I never thought a Volcano would disrupt a dive trip. Two people stuck abroad; one in Cyprus and the other in Greece.
Well one made it and off we went to St Abbs and Scoutscroft to the caravans. This time we had caramel rockies (just because Mikey and Martin weren't on the trip)!
The next day came not as early forecasts showed! Rain, windy and overcast! The day saw a much stressed Paul M attempting to twin up for the first time; made us late setting off. Not that the Skipper Paul minded (after taking the piss about twinset divers). The first dive was Black Carrs. This saw a drift dive down to 20m. The dive was good, apart from the Sea Urchins having demolished all the soft corals. However Black Carr is more known for its wolf fish and we didn't see any!!
The afternoon saw the Anemone gully, this is a dive I have done before and is always one of my favourites. It is still impressive with towering gullies of soft corals anemones. In the rocks and crags you will still find lobsters, crabs and the occasional fish.
The days diving ended along with a few decisions. Firstly was to have bacon butties the following morning (or veggie sausages); the second of which was to have coffee and cake before going back to the caravans. The cake was gorgeous (recommended for all St Abbs trips).
The evening food of spicy meatball pasta went down well and special thanks goes to Dane M for the vegetarian meal of lasagne; equally as tasty.
Wuddy rocks swim through greeted us the following morning. Fantastic and does earn it's description of an intro to cave diving. The last dive of the day weekend was West Hucker. A perfect end to the weekend with a swim through a gully covered in soft corals of soft oranges and beautiful white. Just Jess K needs to figure out the South East is not North West!
